Campfire & HF Evening
Campfire & HF Evening
Looking for something a little different from the usual club outing? Join us for an old-fashioned evening around the campfire — good company, snacks, and HF on the air as the sun goes down. Skywide member Ken Baine (VA3KEX) is organizing a relaxed get-together at Home Smith Park along the Humber River. Think campfire conversation first, with HF stations set up for some evening operating when operators are ready. A low-key social night with radio — no Field Day pressure required. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
Event Details
Home Smith Park runs along the west side of the Humber River between the Lambton House and the Old Mill. The park has designated fire pits, picnic areas, and a paved trail. Parking is available at entrances off Dundas Street West and near Old Mill Trail / Old Mill subway station.
RSVP
Please RSVP using the form below so we can bring enough snacks.
Include your name, callsign (if licensed), and the approximate number of people in your party.
What to Bring
- Camp chair or blanket — fire-pit seating is informal
- Your HF radio and antenna setup — if you’d like to operate (radio, feedline, antenna, battery/power as needed)
- Layered clothing — evenings by the river can cool off
- Flashlight or headlamp — helpful after dark
- Mosquito repellent — recommended for riverside parks in August
Snacks suited to a campfire evening will be provided.
Notes
- This is a social club event, not a formal contest or Field Day deployment.
- Final talk-in details and any last-minute updates will be posted here and sent to the mailing list closer to the date.
