October 19th, 2026 – Club Meeting (AGM)
Thank you, Roger and Tim!
We’d like to extend our gratitude to Roger Hopson (VA3HPR) for his show-and-tell on a compact ammo-case go-box (battery, Powerpoles, and solar-ready setup) and Meshcore / LoRa mesh devices — including how these nodes hop across the GTA and beyond. Great hands-on demo and lots of club interest in exploring Meshcore further.
We’d also like to thank Tim Andrew (VA3TMA) for his presentation on affordable QRP HF and a portable 20 m antenna kit concept (Thingiverse / 3D-printed body, compact whip, tripod mount). Tim is validating performance and may organize a small group order for interested members — stay tuned at the next meeting.
Thanks to both for sharing your builds and expertise with the Skywide Amateur Radio Club community!
March 9th, 2026 – Club Meeting
We enjoyed having you present Ian!
We’d like to extend our gratitude to Ian Clarke (VA3KCP), GH Section Manager, for his excellent presentation on the ACS (Amateur Radio Emergency Communications) Go Kit at our March 9th, 2026 meeting. His level-setting overview of the ARES-to-ACS transition, the state of the section, and the future of ACS brought welcome clarity and sparked a great discussion. Thanks for sharing your expertise and for the offer to return with updates—we look forward to having you back with the Skywide Amateur Radio Club community! If you’re interested in volunteering with ACS, you can reach Ian at k9lyfgrd@gmail.com

We’d like to extend our gratitude to Dan Ditomaso for his excellent presentation on Meshtastic at our January 12th, 2026 meeting. His insights into mesh networking and the hands-on demonstration with real devices made for an engaging and informative session.
