Winter Field Day 2025

Winter Field Day 2025

Recap

On Saturday, January 25th, 2025, the Skywide Amateur Radio Club braved the winter elements at Centennial Park for Winter Field Day!

Operating as a 4O (four outdoor stations), club members set up camp just north of the Centennial Park Conservatory and made contacts until dusk. The heated tents kept operators warm while multiple HF radios, vertical antennas, and VHF/UHF simplex stations were put to work. Local communications on 446.200 MHz SIMPLEX were crossbanded to the VE3SKY repeater, serving as both on-site coordination and a talk-in frequency.

Thanks to everyone who came out, brought equipment, and helped demonstrate the resilience of amateur radio in challenging conditions. There truly is no such thing as bad weather—only challenging operating conditions!
